How to join

Membership is open to all Muslims in Guelph/Wellington County. Our year-end is Ramadan, so our current year begins on the 1st day of Shawwal (Eid-ul-fitr), 2017.

Members are covered for a full year, ending on the last day of Ramadan, 2018. There are no partial-year memberships available.

Membership categories and dues for the 2017 year are as follows:

  • FAMILY ($100/year/family): A family may comprise up to two adults who are spouses and up to four dependents under the age of 20 residing at the same address within the Area of Coverage. An exception to the residence requirement is made if a dependent is a student at a recognized post-secondary institution, in which case the age limit is also raised to 25.
  • INDIVIDUAL: $50/year
  • STUDENT ($25/year): A student enrolled at a post-secondary institution and who is under the age of 25 may join as a student member.

The above rates are only applicable for new membership or renewal applications duly received along with payment in the month of Ramadan. For applications received after the month of Ramadan, there is an additional $50 processing charge per application. Furthermore, for renewals received in the month of Ramadan, membership benefits are available immediately. Whereas new or renewal applications received after Ramadan there is a three month wait period before membership benefits are effective.

We respectfully ask our members, in the event that they receive a CPP death benefit or equivalent (such as through an employment health plan), to reimburse IFRA up to a maximum of the costs incurred by IFRA for the funeral. In other words, we ask for a reimbursement of the lower of two amounts: IFRA’s costs and the death benefit received.

Once you’ve completed the forms, you may remit your dues via INTERAC email money transfer to ifra.gw@gmail.com. Please include your full name and phone number in your email.

Alternatively, please contact us at 855-889-6709, extension 0 and leave a message with your contact information to make arrangements to hand deliver a cheque.

Upon receipt of your payment, you will receive an email confirmation from ifra.gw@gmail.com. Please white-list our email address in your spam filter.

Please contact us if you have not received an official, signed copy of your payment receipt within 15 days of your membership or renewal application.
